IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY INSURANCE

CA ISSUES MORATORIUM FOLLOWING THE PALISADES, EATON AND OTHER FIRES

On January 7, 2025, Governor Gavin Newsom proclaimed a state of emergency covering Los Angeles and Ventura counties due to the Palisades, Eaton, and other Fires.
Therefore, due to the Governor’s January 7, 2025 declarations, no admitted or non- admitted insurer shall issue a notice of cancellation or non-renewal due to wildfire risk for one year, starting on January 7, 2025, for any policy of residential property insurance in the specific ZIP Codes within or adjacent to the fire perimeters identified in the declaration.

The bulletin provides the ZIP codes to which the moratorium applies. Additionally, insurers must offer to rescind any notices of cancellation or nonrenewal that were issued due to wildfire risk since the emergency declarations.
Please see Bulletin 2025-1 for more information. For any questions regarding the bulletin, please contact Daniel Wade, Legal - Rate Enforcement Bureau, at Daniel.Wade@insurance.ca.gov.

The moratorium includes zip codes 90077 and 90049.
